Melanie Greenberg Ph.D.is a California-licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in Cognitive-Behavioral, Integrative (Mind-Body) and Emotion-Focused approaches.
With nearly 20 years experience in academia, and numerous scientific and theoretical papers, Dr Greenberg is a leader in the field of Clinical Health Psychology. She was a founding faculty member of the Clinical Health Psychology track of the Doctoral program at the California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant Internatonal University) in San Diego. She has achieved a national and international reputation for her research on the health effects of expressive writing, cognitive adaptation to trauma, the genesis and treatment of chronic pain, life stress and coping strategies, and coping with medical problems. She has served on the Editorial Boards of Health Psychology and Annals of Behavioral Medicine and as a Special Interest Group Chair of Complementary and Alternative Medicine for the Society of Behavioral Medicine. She was a reviewer of recent national guidelines for treatment of chronic pain. She has chaired symposia and/or delivered papers at national conferences of the American Psychological Association, the Society of Behavioral Medicine, and the American Psychosomatic Society and has taught Continuing Education for Health Professionals. She was also co-developer of a mental imagery intervention for job loss, iisted on SAMHSA’s national registry of effective programs. She has been interviewed by Psychology Today and the APA Monitor, Men’s Health and other publications. Her talk at a national pain conference is featured on You-Tube. She has mentored hundreds of graduate students, many of whom are successful practicing psychologists.
Dr Greenberg could not be more excited and happy about her recent move to Marin county and transition to private practice where she can put her extensive theoretical, research, teaching and supervisory experience to use, by providing high quality clinical treatment based on the needs and best interests of individual clients. She has a lifelong commitment to the profession of psychology and to helping people become hopeful, resilient and live meaningful lives in the face of uncontrollable stressors and emotional suffering. Her values include hard work and achievement, but also human connection, commitment, service, spirituality, and contributing to community and future generations.
